Mercedes-AMG has expanded its electric performance lineup with the introduction of the 2028 GT SUV. Unlike previous models that may have been adapted from internal combustion platforms, this vehicle is the first SUV from the performance division designed specifically as an electric car from its inception.

The vehicle is engineered for extreme power, matching the specifications of the recently revealed GT four-door coupe. It utilizes three axial flux motors to produce more than 1,150 horsepower. In addition to its high output, the SUV is designed for ultra-fast charging to reduce downtime between trips.

What it means

By developing a dedicated electric architecture for a larger vehicle format, Mercedes-AMG is shifting its focus toward high-output, sustainable performance. The use of axial flux motors allows the company to maintain sports-car levels of horsepower in a chassis designed for passenger utility.
