We discover stories through publicly available RSS and Atom feeds that publishers offer for exactly this purpose. We read headlines and publisher-supplied summaries as a tip sheet. We do not scrape paywalled content, bypass access controls, or reproduce full articles.
Original expression
Facts are not owned by anyone; the specific words used to report them are. Every The Cutoff Report article is written as new prose. Our pipeline runs an automated overlap check against the source material and rejects any draft that reuses a source's phrasing, so what you read here is our expression of the underlying facts.
No invented detail
Our writing system is instructed to use only facts present in the source material, and never to invent quotes, figures, names or dates. Direct quotations are avoided entirely. If a detail is unclear in the source, it is omitted rather than guessed at.
Attribution
Each story credits the outlet whose reporting it is based on, by name in the byline area and by link in the Sources section. Attribution is a matter of respect and transparency, and we link out so readers can go to the original.
AI disclosure
Articles and cover images on The Cutoff Report are produced with AI assistance and are labelled on the page. We disclose this in line with platform and advertising expectations for AI-generated content.
Corrections and takedowns
We correct errors promptly and remove or amend any article on reasonable request from a rights holder or a subject of a story. See corrections.
