The funding tracker is a structured log of startup and AI funding rounds taken from public reporting. These are the rules it follows, so you can judge whether to rely on a number.

Sources

Every six hours we read public feeds from technology and startup outlets (including TechCrunch, Crunchbase News, Sifted, Tech.eu, EU-Startups and VentureBeat) and funding-related news searches. Each entry links to the report it came from. We do not use private data, paid databases or press releases sent to us.

What counts as a round

  • A company announcing new equity or debt funding, with either a disclosed amount or a named stage.
  • Acquisitions, IPOs, lawsuits and layoffs are excluded.
  • A venture firm closing a new fund is logged as Fund close and is excluded from startup totals and the weekly biggest-rounds list.

Amounts

  • Amounts are as reported. We never estimate an undisclosed figure.
  • Valuations are ignored; only money raised is recorded.
  • Non-dollar amounts keep their original text and are converted roughly to US dollars for ranking.
  • A single startup round above $5B, or a figure that conflicts with the source, is shown as undisclosed until it can be confirmed.

Names and duplicates

  • Headline descriptors are removed ("Berlin-based Kuro" becomes Kuro; "Spanish fintech ID Finance" becomes ID Finance). Placeholders such as "existing investors" are never listed as investors.
  • One company is logged once per month; repeat coverage of the same round is merged.
  • The whole dataset is re-checked against these rules on every run, so fixes apply to older entries too.

Limits

The tracker is assembled automatically from headlines, so errors are possible and coverage is not complete. Check the linked source before citing a figure, and tell us about mistakes via the corrections page. Fixes are applied on the next run.

Use the data
