Instagram is extending its reach into the home entertainment space with the launch of a dedicated application for Apple TV. This move allows users to view Reels and live streaming content on a television screen rather than being confined to mobile devices.
The company began exploring this transition in December of the previous year, testing a version of the platform designed specifically to scale video content for larger formats. Following that initial phase, the company introduced additional capabilities in June to further refine the experience.
What it means
This expansion represents a strategic shift toward living room consumption. By optimizing the interface for the big screen, the platform is moving beyond its origins as a handheld social network to compete more directly with traditional television and home cinema viewing habits.
